The first step in dealing with skin wrinkles is to know how they form in the first place. Please refer to the list of explanations of each of these common causes shown below:

* Sunlight, cigarette smoke, and air pollution: This is one of the biggest causes of wrinkles and blemishes forming in the skin. Free radicals in various types of pollutant substances cause the degeneration of collagen. The result is reduction in elasticity of the skin, which makes a person seem more aged, and perhaps even older than they really are.

* Changes of Life: Menopause is one time of life that can cause quite a few complications, including aging of the skin. The main culprit of reduced elasticity in the skin is decreased estrogen production. Other hormone changes often contribute to changes in the skin during this time.

* Muscle use: This is not a fact that can really be avoided. Laughing, smiling, and frowning can cause folds in the skin to form. (Perhaps a suggestion here is to smile more than you frown because it could show later in life!)

The following is a more detailed explanation of the skin aging process:

As we get older the cells in the epidermis (outer layer of skin) become thinner. The epidermis also becomes less “sticky” and elastic than when a person was in their early 20s or younger.

Furthermore, as we age the cells in the epidermis regenerate more slowly. In addition, our skin becomes drier. That is part of the reason why you see older people always using some type of lotion or cream to soften their skin.

Overall, the entire natural regeneration process of the skin slows down with age. That is why many people turn to alternative ways to help prevent wrinkles, folds, and a variety of other problems that occur with age.

Prevention

You cannot just apply any lotion and expect it to soften your skin. In fact, some creams have very harsh chemicals in them that could further cause dryness and a host of other problems. There are far better alternatives out there that you may have yet to hear about.

Recommended solutions for skin wrinkles include Lifecell Wrinkle Cream, Athena 7-Minute Lift, and Hydroderm. Each one of these has its own list of active ingredients that is meant to work.

It is also advised that you quit smoking, which can lead to skin wrinkles. Furthermore, eating foods high in antioxidants such as tomatoes, red peppers, beets, and carrots will help immensely. Furthermore, foods rich in Omega-3 (salmon, almonds) will help keep lubricate your skin and kale will help bring oxygen to your skin.
